Past achievements include winning the British Championship after only one and a half years of dancing Salsa, and winning the coveted Bacardi Competition, which first prize included a chance to perform to one of the most prestigious audiences in the Salsa world, at the Congresso de Bacardi in Puerto Rico, where Susana and her dance partner Leon Rose received one of the loudest and longest standing ovations of the entire week, after their debut performance. Susana now spends most of her time (when she isn't practising) teaching at her classes, holding workshops, and performing up and down the country, along with most of Europe and America.
Around the age of sixteen, Susana also turned her hand at Contemporary and Jazz dance, where she studied this until the age of twenty-four along with Afro Cuban. Along with the challenge of being a very good and promising dancer, whilst she was studying Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz dance, she was also working at a part time job, and studying at university for her degree in Psychology, (which took 6 yrs,) achieving the degree with full honours. These being some of the reasons for the "no messing around" approach to her career. She thrives on hard work and professionalism. On finishing university, the economic situation in Spain was quite bad, and many people (Susana being one of them) found themselves travelling to other countries to find work or pursue their careers. Susana came to London, with the intention of staying for a year, not speaking a word of English and only knowing one person! Meeting a friend one day at her English school she introduced Susana to Salsa. Magnetized by the challenge and passion of a new dance, Susana took to Salsa, like a duck to water. Five years later we have, Twice British Champion, and one of the leading teachers in the new U.K. style Salsa, which is sweeping across the U.K. Europe and even America. She is the Leading Lady of British Salsa. When you watch Susana teach/dance or perform, you do not see someone who just happened to be this good by chance, she is the product of being a dancer, who has danced and trained hard for over twenty years, which include Ballet, one of the hardest forms of dance, many of these years as a professional. Added to this, is a wealth of knowledge in several other forms of dance, (none of them were done in half measures) which gives her a great understanding of body mechanics, which is an essential requirement for all teachers and dancers.
